Information is an important strategic asset for the government as
important as people, capital and technology. Like other corporate assets, information
must be managed.
While most organizations have human resource and financial strategies, few
have a strategy for managing their information resources. For example, “50% of
UK managers and 60% of US managers said their companies had no plans to implement
an information management policy.” 1
This lack of an information strategy results in wasted time, increased frustration,
lower productivity, and increased costs.
