Knowledge mapping can be an effective tool to help you get a handle on your knowledge assets. Knowledge mapping addresses the important "where" questions – where does our knowledge reside, where does it flow and where should we direct it? It can also help to answer the “what” questions – what do we already know and what do we need to know?
